Abstract Introduction In England and Wales, there are approximately 75,000 proximal femoral fractures per year. Bone protection is vital in these patients a key recommendation of NICE guidelines (CG124) for multidisciplinary approach hip fracture management. Method Data were collected retrospectively using clinical portal, admission records medication charts. The data inputted into the FRAX calculator to calculate patient’s risk developing an osteoporotic fracture; depending on their they would be appropriate bone or DEXA scanning further assessment. As certain criteria not available calculation, calculation was underscored i.e. if parental status known. Results A total 59 audited between July October 2019. Of those patients, 25 calculated as high risk, however, only 6 had adequate protection. 19 deemed intermediate benefit from scan 8 requested 2 who risk. year following, 4 have another fracture, with 3 any calculation.
